East Greenland is one of the Arctic's most remote and least-visited frontiers, where immense fjord systems, towering icebergs and autumn-coloured tundra create a landscape unlike anywhere else. As summer gives way to autumn, the region offers a rare combination of navigable fjords, emerging darkness and opportunities to witness the Northern Lights. Aboard Captain Arctic, a pioneering wind- and solar-powered expedition vessel, just 36 guests will explore this extraordinary wilderness with the freedom to adapt each day's journey to the conditions. Paddle among grounded icebergs, venture into secluded fjords and encounter Arctic wildlife alongside an expert expedition team with deep-rooted connections to local Inuit communities. More than a voyage, this UnWild-exclusive expedition offers a rare opportunity to explore responsibly, connect meaningfully with the people and landscapes of East Greenland, and experience the Arctic on a more intimate and personal scale.

Fly from Akureyri, Iceland, to Constable Point, Greenland, and embark Captain Arctic.
Explore the vast fjord systems of Scoresby Sund and the remote wilderness of Northeast Greenland, with the route shaped by weather, ice conditions and wildlife movements. Navigate past cathedral-like icebergs, glacier-carved valleys and rugged mountains, with opportunities to kayak, paddleboard, explore by Zodiac and hike ashore. Possible areas of exploration include the mountainous Renland Peninsula, the remote Muskox Fjord, the autumn-coloured landscapes around Gåseland and Red Island, and the coastal region near Ittoqqortoormiit, where encounters with local Inuit communities offer insight into life in the Arctic. Keep watch for muskoxen, Arctic foxes and other wildlife, and look to the skies after dark for the Northern Lights. With Captain Arctic’s small size and agile design, enjoy unhurried explorations, closer access to remote locations and the flexibility to make the most of each day’s conditions.

“Thanks so much for suggesting and organising our day trip to ishfjord radio The boat and crew were fab. The tour around a glacier was amazing. Then lunch at ishfjord radio was another adventure. On the way back we used the time to spot wildlife and saw a walrus and countless birds. Both the guides were amazing”
