Weather in Greenland is very changeable. It is usually pleasant, but it is essential that you bring appropriate clothes for rainy weather. The average temperatures you'll face in summer would be between 3.0°C and 10.0°C, with exceptional possible peaks as low as -3°C and high as 21°C. Mid-summer nights are sometimes cold. It’s best to be prepared for lower temperatures due to wind chill or the weather turning bad.
Kalaallisut, the Western Greenlandic language, is the main language in Greenland, it is the most important Inuit language in the world. Inuhumiutut is also spoken in the North, and Tunumiutut in the East Coast. However, most people in Greenland speak some Danish, which is the second official language. English is spoken too with various levels of fluency.

A special Inuit dinner at the end of the journey will be the highlight. It will include local products available: seal meat, whale meat, caribou meat, smoked halibut, dried anmmassat and cod.
During the day trips, a more practical diet will be followed where breakfast will include coffee, tea, infusions, cocoa, powdered milk, biscuits, bread, jam, muesli and cereals. Packed lunch will include bread, cheese, ham, chocolate, nuts, biscuits, soup and hot tea. Dinner meals like rice, pasta, mashed potatoes and sausages will be cooked at the camp with the help of the guide in collaboration with the group.
Dinner served at the hostels will be prepared with local fish, meat, pork, vegetables, eggs and rice.
If you are allergic to any particular food items, please inform at the time of booking.
Few recommendations for personal equipment are given below. Please add toiletries, towel, travelling clothes, personal medication, and any other item you may need. When packing, please be aware of the limitations as far as space on RIB boats is concerned, and keep in mind your own comfort. Try to carry as less weight as possible in a bag as small as possible.

Note: It is possible to get and rent some equipment in the Leif Eriksson Hostel- Sleeping Bag (30€/8 days), Trekking Poles (15€/8 days). You can also buy a mosquito head net from the hostel.
The trip cost includes return flights from Reykjavik or Copenhagen. You just need to reach either of these 2 destinations and we'll take care of the rest.
It will help for you to carry some easy to access medicines on the trip for headaches, diarrhea, constipation and some rehydration powders like Electral etc. apart from any personal medication.
Leif Eriksson hostel has a Wi-Fi. However, the connectivity is unreliable due to the remote location. Our guides will be equipped with Delorme Satellite Messenger and phones.

Danish krone (DKK) and Icelandic krone (ISK) are accepted form of currency in Greenland. The following credit cards are accepted in Cash Dispensers (ATMs): Visa, Mastercard, Eurocard, Diners, Dankort and American Express. However, as a general rule, it is always a good idea to bring in cash in DKK, especially when visiting small towns and settlements. You can exchange Euros at the Leif Eriksson Hostel on your first day in Greenland.
All tipping is optional and by no means mandatory, however if you feel that your staff and guides have been helpful, it is a great way to let them know that you appreciate their efforts.
